Get 'em While They Are Hot: Ugly Dad Shoes

 I'm sure you've seen them - UGLY DAD SHOES.  They are all over Insta and I stayed clear because honestly they are UGGly - really UGGly.


But, I see for the fall they will still be trending and as a self-declared fashionista, I felt obliged to investigate further.

I knew that they could be pretty pricey so when I read that Fila brought back a tennis shoe from the 90's called the Disrupter and at  mere $65 I was all over it like ugly on a dad's tennis shoe.  So I jumped and bought them!  And, darn it, I like them.  They are super comfortable and actually make great walking shoes - perhaps that's the catch!

Next was what to wear with them?  To me the obvious choice was a gingham sundress.  I suspect many of you may have a gingham dress in your closet and, if not, there should be one. Plus, a gingham dress is  the perfect foil for white shoes - tennis shoes or white sandals will work like a charm every time.

As it is summer, a straw hat was needed and always a good statement piece.  I have had this Helen Kaminski straw hat for eons.  The design and construction are always stellar and consider it an investment that will last for years.  Yes, spend your money here - NOT on a pair of $500 ugly dad shoes!

And. last but not least, add a bamboo or straw bag.  I swear this little bamboo number will not disappoint.  People totally go nuts when the see it.  I mean it's just a bag - right?  Well, buy one an let me know what people have to say about it!!  I've got a few options below.

Stylingwise tip:  Be careful about trends which are the biggest fashion traps in which you can fall.  If decided to go with one,  find a reasonably priced one.  Easy come, easy go!
